If you like Disney that is great for you! It is not something you should feel embarrassed about, and I will tell you why.
First off Disney is a wonderful example for people of any age, not just children. Disney teaches positive lessons that are applicable to every stage of your life. They teach these lessons through their movies and TV shows.
One of these lessons is that “dreams come true if you believe in yourself." This is important to know at a young age, but as you get older it is important to not forget this lesson. One film that teaches us this lesson is “Princess and the Frog.”
This film follows the life of Tiana a young African- American women in the 1920’s with a dream to own her own restaurant. She works extremely hard to achieve this dream and teaches us the importance to not give up on our dreams no matter what obstacles may come in your way.
Another Disney movie that exemplifies another great lesson for people at any stage in life is “Meet The Robinsons.” This film tells us that we might face hardships or struggles that interfere with the life plan we might have envisioned for ourselves. When these items get in our way, the movie teaches us to “keep moving forward.” This is important for everyone to know that we cannot just give up on our dreams.
Many other Disney films teach us important lessons, but Disney is great for more than just teaching. Disney is great because it teaches us the importance to have fun.
Fun can be had not just through watching Disney shows and movies, but through the Disney Parks and cruises. Disney has parks in the US (Disneyworld and Disneyland), but Disney is also international. There are Disneyland’s in Hong Kong, China, Japan, and Paris. The cruises that Disney hosts also go to many different countries. Disney lets you have fun by engaging in a wide range of activities.
At the parks, you can go on rides, eat at themed restaurants, and meet characters. This gives people of all ages the opportunity to act like a kid and explore! If you go to the international parks you have the chance to see some of the classic rides that originated in America and some that are specifically created for that park. For example, in Disneyland Paris you will see rides like “Tower of Terror”, “It’s a small world”, and “Ratatouille L’aventure Totalement Toquee de Remy.”
This park gave me the opportunity to feel at home with my favorite rides and learn about new cultures with the ones specifically made for Paris. Lastly, the Disney cruises give you the opportunity to experience beautiful tropical locations while experiencing a fun Disney vacation!
Clearly, Disney was made for everyone to enjoy, not just kids. Therefore, you should feel no shame for wanting to see the latest Disney movie that comes out or going to Disney World for your spring break.
If all of this doesn’t convince you, remember that in “UP” Carl Fredrickson goes on his adventure to Paradise falls a dream he has had since he was a child at his old age. He didn’t give up on his dream and he wasn’t too old for a little adventure.
So, neither are you! “Adventure is out there” for you no matter how old you are. Also, don’t forget to share your passion for Disney with your future kids so they can enjoy the experience too!
