The Magic Of Facebook

The social media platform that's not just for your mother.

The Magic Of Facebook

I love Facebook for a million reasons, but the return of the platform as a major social media site that's not just for moms makes me like and share for joy. While Twitter and its memes are incredible (and trust me, I spend way too much time sending my roommates Spongebob tweets), and Instagram takes over a majority of the hour after I shower (you know you lay in bed in a towel and scroll through stalking your old roommates' boyfriend's sister), Facebook is the nexus for all things beautiful.

I love seeing dog articles. I love wedding photos, vacation photos, Grandpa's birthday photos. Even better, lately Mark Zuckerberg has concocted the new facet of the bookmarking yourself as "safe" all over the world when disaster strikes, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and the like. This especially warms my heart, as my big is currently in Italy and instead of having a panic attack every time the rain pours a little too hard, I know she's safe via Facebook.

The site transitioned from a bunch of geeky "Truth Is" statuses to a platform for news, cute penguin videos, wedding announcements, and a bunch of happy feelings- if we're ignoring the bunch of political jargon (which I do-always). While both Twitter and Gram are perfect to be hilariously inappropriate, Facebook is that place to announce your happy events, post things your mom will be proud of, and show off your best self.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."
