1. The Don Draper

Your Don Draper is likely an important figure in the Greek life or in sports at your school. He has a wide presence. Everyone knows who he is, and you're quite unlikely to ever make more than passing eye contact with him. If you're set with him in a group project, he'll take charge and you'll all do well. He's a real team player. He's a hit with the ladies, but rumored to be a cheater. Even still, he often prefers to be with the bros. He seems cool and suave on the outside, but he can be funny and sarcastic. Beneath the facade of "big man on campus," however, there is much more to your school's Don Draper. Maybe it's his family or some other aspect of his past that he doesn't speak of. You're lucky if you ever find out what his secret is...

2. The Roger Sterling

Your Roger Sterling is likely bros with your Don Draper, so they will share similar antics. If you're a girl, Roger Sterling will come onto you at a party, even if his date is a yard away. He comes from money and takes it for granted. He doesn't hold as many secrets as your Don Draper. Despite his abrasive nature, really, he's harmless. If you're in a group project with him, he'll make some sassy comments in an attempt to get a rise out of you. The best thing to do is ignore him.

3. The Pete Campbell

Your Pete Campbell is the younger protégée of your Roger and Don. Like Roger, he comes from money and will come onto you despite being in a serious relationship, likely with a girl at another school so that he can stay out of trouble more easily. He's likely to fool you by insisting that he likes you, but really he wants to get laid. That's not to say he can't possibly care—he does, he just doesn't show it normally. There is more to your Pete than his promiscuity, of course. He works hard, although his priorities can get askew sometimes. He is a good person to have on a group project, always doing his part. The best thing for you to do is your part as well, because he's not fun when he's stressed.

4. The Peggy Olson

Your Peggy Olson was likely the girl who lived next door to you your freshman year, or perhaps a transfer. At first, she seems like a naïve little klutz who's just trying her hardest to make friends. In truth, she probably is. But Peggy works hard for everything she has. She may be the first in her family to go to college, if not the first woman. She's not afraid to speak up in class, take charge, and kick ass. She's not too good with romantic relationships and often struggles to find a balance between her work and a boyfriend. She doesn't do too well at parties, either. Really, she just needs good friends and to avoid being a doormat. She's a great person to have on your side. Be nice to your Peggy, and she'll be nice to you!

5. The Joan Holloway

Your Joan Holloway is often seen on the arm of a Roger Sterling type, forgiving of his antics. She always looks perfect and beautiful, and is surprisingly approachable despite the crowd she hangs out with. She's not one to ignore people her friends think are beneath them...probably because she loves gossip so much. There's so much more to your Joan than her pretty face, though. She's incredibly smart and hardworking. Despite all of her virtues, she's not as confident as she seems on the outside. Life isn't easy for Joan. Often, she's afraid to be emotional. Don't be afraid to approach and befriend your school's Joan. Although you might not make it into her crowd, she'll remember you. She's really good for beauty and relationship advice!

6. The Betty Francis

Your Betty Francis is best known for being in a long-term relationship with your school's Don Draper. Their breakup likely outcasted her from his group, although the two of them still talk in a more or less civil manner. She likely comes from a rich family and has an expensive wardrobe, and won't be seen looking messy. People think she's stuck-up and stupid, but she isn't, really. You'll likely get to know your Betty best if you live in a dorm with her. She can be passive-aggressive, lethargic, and often frustrated. It's likely her way of coping with her own problems, which can be anything between her weight or drug use. Be patient with your Betty. Who knows? She might turn out to be a good friend.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
