Fall in Love with the Macfox X2 This Valentines Day

For the last year, I’ve been in search of the perfect e-bike. And with Valentine's day around the corner, I’m thrilled to say I’ve found my match. Macfox is a brand trusted by riders who dare to be different. And it's no secret that their bikes dare to be different, too. Riding the right bike is like a relationship. It’s something we spend time with everyday. And it’s a big investment. Not only for our wallets, but for our well-being, too. I rode the Macfox X2 each day on my daily commute. It saved me money on gas, reduced my carbon footprint, and let me take in all the sights and scenery on my travels.

Ultimate Upgrades

A follow-up to the company's best seller, the X2 features some standout differences. The bike is considered a Class 3, with a top speed of 28mph. It also supports a seven-speed gearing transmission system that soars through steep hills in stride. My favorite updates are the treaded 20” CST tires that gain a strong grip on any surface- in mud, sand, and even snow.

Dazzling Design

The X2 boasts a moped-inspired design with rider comfort and safety at the forefront. The luxurious leather seat has a cozy, memory foam padding that I never thought I needed. On the previous bikes I’ve reviewed, a big complaint I always had was that the seats were uncomfortable to sit on after long bike rides, leaving me feeling frustrated and fatigued. Now, I don’t know how I rode without one. It also helps with good posture, allowing me to keep my back straight and not slouched over. The seat is long enough to hold an additional rider or to stretch out without feeling cramped and claustrophobic.

The strong aluminum frame is corrosion-resistant and fit to withstand the harshest weather conditions. It’s also very sleek and stylish, too. It has an eagerness of elegance, and has gotten many head-turns and compliments from curious passerbys.

The luminous LED display is located on the left-hand side and keeps me up-to-date on my current speed, trip mileage, battery life, and power-display in different gears. This is helpful in knowing how to pace myself and use the best amount of energy to maximize my trip. It allows me to feel secure knowing I can get to my destination without stressing if I will have enough battery to get me there.

Peak Performance

The 750w nominal motor supports both pedal assist and twist throttle, at its best when the two come together. This means I can get exercise peddling, or use the motor only for an adventurous adrenaline rush. I felt safe using the dual-hydrolic brakes that allowed me to quickly slow down as needed. The high-end full suspension and shock absorption made it easy to travel in snow and sand during evening sunsets at the beach.

Health Benefits

Research has shown that using a bike daily is linked to many health benefits. There is a direct link to biking and happiness. When we ride, feel-good endorphins in the brain and released that help counter stress and make us happy. Daily activity also leads to better sleep, more creativity, and even life expectancy. The body becomes more efficient at defending itself and regenerating new cells with daily exercise, lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabeties, cancer, and obesity.

Price

The X2 is priced at $1,699 with free shipping in the United States. For an additional upgrade, riders can purchase an additional battery, doubling the range of the bike from forty-five to ninety miles on a single charge.

At that price you might want to pick up two this Valentines Day. It’s never too late to give the gift of a new adventure, the ultimate way to say 'I love you'.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
