I first discovered Mac Miller back in 2011 when he first released his album, "Blue Slide Park." I fell in love with the song "Missed Calls" and I've been a huge fan of his ever since.
You can imagine the feelings I have right now after hearing of his death.
Mac was that type of artist that always made a hard day not seem so bad anymore. He was my go-to for when I needed to cheer up my spirits, release all my emotions, or even focus on studying for a test. He never made a bad album, released a weak song, or disappointed his fans.
His music was not only an inspiration for people like me but for other artists as well. He helped other artists to find their sound, launch their career, and was always there when a friend needed him. "I don't know what to say. Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever. But beyond launching my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. I'm completely broken. God bless him," stated Chance The Rapper.
Mac Miller was a good person. He truly did not deserve this life.
I had the privilege of getting to see him perform on his last tour for his previous album "The Divine Feminine" and it was clear that he wasn't there to perform for the money, but to put on his best show to thank his fans for always being there. Instead of letting the fame get to him, Mac did his very best to give back to his fans in every way he could.
He may be gone, but his impact on my world will never disappear.
Album after album, Mac Miller has continued to touch my heart for seven years. Finding the words to say goodbye to an artist like him is nearly impossible. While his continuance to make music is gone, he blessed our world with eight beautiful albums, filled with life lessons that everyone can relate to.
It's up to us to have his music live on. It's up to us to let the young man from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania have the impact that he always wanted. We cannot let that die too.
