Banks is one of the most underrated artists in the game right now. One of her most popular singles "Waiting Game" debuted in 2013 during a Victoria Secret commercial. Since then, she's been recognized for her passionate, sensual and sometimes sad music. Although most of her songs relate to how women feel in relationships, it's safe to say everyone has felt the same way she has at some point in their life.
Banks' music is raw and real. You can almost feel the pain in her voice just from hearing her sing certain lines. My question is: WHO HURT HER? I know we have all had bad relationships here and there, but this girl has been sad for six years now. However, all of this hurt has brought us a new album, so I'm not complaining.
This album has thirteen songs, each being different but equally sappy. If you are a sappy girl, then these seven lyrics might relate to you.
1. "but I'm hurting from the way this worked out, if you could rearrange your words you could've saved it."
2. "I can't save myself, mama, I need help."
3. "And I wish I could change it, yeah, and we're always gonna be contaminated."
4. "Why didn't you tell me how you felt that day."
5. "Cause I felt the power when I laid down at your side."
6. "You belong to someone else but maybe if we just rewind the tape?"
7. "You want me to stroke your ego."
Each of these seven lyrics were from seven different songs off of this new album. It's obvious to see that Banks has had a rough couple of years and needed to let out all of this sadness and anger. Everyone takes out these feelings in their own ways, yet it's a beautiful thing to realize that other people have felt the same exact way you have at one point in your life.
This is why music is so important. Not only is it an outlet for people, but it's a way for people to feel like they aren't alone. Being a "sappy" person isn't necessarily a bad thing. I would definitely identify myself as a sappy person and I have nothing to be sad about, but sometimes I need to let these feelings out. So if any of these lyrics stood out to you, go listen to the album because I can guarantee it won't disappoint.
