LUSH Is More Than Just Bath Bombs

LUSH cosmetics can do so much more than brighten up your bath

Over the past year, LUSH cosmetics has taken the world by storm, growing its popularity and its most well-known products — bath bombs. Whenever I log onto Instagram or Tumblr, all I see are artsy pictures of people's baths. While bath bombs are great (I'm an avid user myself), this company is not just to make your bath colorful. I see so many people in the LUSH store when I'm there who completely overlook every other cool (HANDMADE) product this company has to offer. I've been branching out from the typical bath bombs and bubble bars to try some of the less common products and what they're all about, and I'm very impressed.

No Drought Dry Shampoo

I have recently purchased and begun using this product, and it has got to be the best dry shampoo I've ever used. It's a powder instead of a spray, and therefore I feel it does a better job of soaking up oils. Spraying dry shampoo onto your roots can sometimes make them feel greasier, which is the opposite of what you want.

It's beneficial for your hair if you don't wash it every day, so it gives the natural oils time to do their job. This product is perfect for those second (or third day) hairdos. There are two different sizes, but the large one is only about $15 and will last you a really long time, so it's completely worth the money.

Shampoo Bars

Another hair care item, these shampoo's bars are great for the environment because there's no plastic! A solid bar that suds up when you get it wet, lathers amazing, and comes in so many different scents and for different hair types! I personally have tried the one for volumizing and I absolutely love it. After using this product I realized how many plastic shampoo bottles just get thrown away and how amazing this alternative is. These retail for around $10.

Massage Bars

Massage bars melt into your skin when you massage them in, and leave your skin feeling super smooth and moisturized! This product is a lot less messy than a bottle of lotion, and just like the shampoo bar, there's nothing left over to throw away. LUSH sells tins to keep your products in, and you can reuse them again and again. There are different kinds of massage bars for different things, such as the Wiccy Magic Muscles bar with peppermint and cinnamon spice oils to help relax sore muscles or the Shimmy Shimmy, which leaves your body feeling relaxed with a glow. Massage bar pricing ranges from $8-$14, depending on the type you choose.

Ocean Salt Face And Body Scrub

One of Lush's most popular products besides bath bombs, this face and body scrub can be used anywhere to make your skin super smooth. It also helps with blocked pores and blemishes, leaving your skin glowing and renewed. Recently, the company also came out with rebalanced formula to make it completely self-preserving. Ocean salt is

If you've never been inside a LUSH store, a trip should certainly be in your future. The workers are friendly and attentive, and can help you find the perfect products for you and your skin. Whether you're looking for the best face mask, soap, eyeliner, or perfume, this store has it all!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
