Why Luke Pell Should Have Been "The Bachelor"

The most dramatic Bachelor pick in history.

Why Luke Pell Should Have Been "The Bachelor"

It's been about a month since Jojo's season of "The Bachelorette" ended with her choosing Jordan. Although most viewers were happy with her choice--because let's be honest, Jordan is a beautiful man--everyone was disappointed when she sent home fan favorite Luke Pell. He was the epitome of the perfect man; handsome and a gentleman. Personally, sending Luke home was the worse mistake Jojo made. But sending him home was also a blessing because that meant he had a chance at becoming the next "Bachelor" and who didn't want to see Luke on their TV every Monday again?

But on August 30, Chris Harrison broke "Bachelor" nation's hearts when he named Nick Viall as the next Bachelor. This will be Nick's fourth try on a "Bachelor" franchise show and if the first three times didn't work, maybe he need to try another process. Don't get me wrong, Nick is a nice guy and I'm still going to watch but I was shocked that Luke wasn't picked, and so was most of Twitter.

Luke was perfect for "The Bachelor" because:

He is genuine.

We all have to admit it, the Bachelor franchise has had some bad "Bachelors" (shall we mention Juan Pablo?), But Luke never acted full of himself or even seemed like he knew how perfect he was. He treated Jojo with nothing but respect and was never involved in the drama through out the season.

He is a veteran.

I have nothing but respect for our veterans and the fact that Luke is a veteran makes America love him even more.

He is a southern gentleman.

Luke was so respectful of Jojo. He even surprised her with that super cute candlelight walk to a heart made of roses at sunset. Like who would pass up a man who does little things like that? He wears his heart on his sleeve and would have been great to watch date 26 women.

He has no scandals.

A lot of "Bachelor" guys have had questionable pasts and although Nick hasn't had a scandal, he was written about in Andi's book. She told stories depicting him as very awkward and he called Andi out on national TV for having sex with him which was not cool. Plus how he came onto Kaitlyn's season was a little annoying.

It just made sense.

The next "Bachelor" or "Bachelorette" is always either the third or fourth runner up. That would have been either Luke Pell or Chase McNary (both great choices. 10 out of 10, honestly). So when Nick was announced it was really a curve ball. Jojo had amazing men on her show to choose from and one of them really deserved to find love, unlike Nick who has had 3 previous chances.

Clearly Luke was the better option, Chris Harrison. But that's okay, that just means he'll stay single and maybe I have a chance. Hey Luke, give me a call.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
