Luke Combs wasn't a part of my regular country artists playlists until he released "When It Rains It Pours". I didn't think it got much better than that song; then, he came out with the song "Beautiful Crazy". I've listened to that song on repeat since I first heard it and each time I listen, I think of my mom. Here's how the lyrics describe my mom perfectly:
"Takes forever to get ready"
Anyone who goes anywhere with my mom knows this to be true: she doesn't EVER leave the house without her hair being done. I'm talking washed, dried, straightened, texturized, and hair sprayed.
"Ain't afraid to take chances"
One of the most recent chances my mom has taken was hiring me to work with her this summer. That's a pretty big chance but there's nobody else I would rather spend my summer with! Also, if you know her like I do, you know black is her favorite clothing color. You would hardly recognize her in public lately since she's been wearing bright, summery colors.
"She makes plans for the weekend, can't wait to go out / Till she changes her mind, says 'let's stay on the couch and watch TV'"
Just a few weeks ago, my mom and I were supposed to go to a dinner together. After we had both gotten completely ready and were leaving to go to the dinner, she said, "We should just stay here and eat Bojangles." She's the queen of planning but also avoiding plans to have a day at home.
"And wears her heart on her sleeve"
When my mom is mad, EVERYONE around her knows it (she doesn't like to believe that). On the flip side, when's she happy she will seriously laugh for five straight minutes at anything I say or do. Either way, she wears her heart on her sleeve and makes her love for those around her obvious.
"It kinda scares me
The way that she drives..."
The end of this lyric ends with "me wild", but I ended it a bit short to better fit my mom. I will never forget sitting upstairs in my house and hearing my mom's Tahoe scrape the side of our garage after she cut the turn too close. Her black Tahoe looked like a zebra with white scratches all down the side.
"She's unpredictable, unforgettable"
I think it's fair to say that the majority of people who have met my mom would say she doesn't leave their minds easily. She's beautiful and smart and people like that just aren't easy to forget.
"She can't help but amaze me"
After nineteen years, this woman seriously NEVER ceases to amaze me. She gives with hopes of nothing in return and puts everybody around her before herself. She makes filling the roles of mother, wife, boss, and friend look easy.
"Yeah, she's crazy but her crazy's beautiful to me"
My mom can definitely act crazy sometimes. She EATS gum like it's candy. She works like a madwoman without ever stopping. She has a weird voice that she frequently talks/sings in. She treats our dog like a newborn baby.
With all that being said, her crazy is so so beautiful to me, and God knew exactly what He was doing when he made my beautiful, crazy mom mine!
