1. When people wait to tell you they have a rewards card or phone number until after the transaction.
The single most annoying thing that I experience as a cashier occurs when people wait to tell you they have a rewards card or phone number until after the transaction is done and the receipt has been printed...and then they say "you forgot to ask if I have rewards." BOI. They are YOUR rewards.
2. TFW a customer leaves the line for longer than a minute to go find something else in the store,
That customer leaves the line for longer than a minute to go find something else in the store backing up the rest of the line.
3. Complaining about the cost of the things
Please don't complain about the cost of the things YOU. PICKED. OUT.
4. I did not make a mistake ringing you up
Piggybacking off of that, no. I did not make a mistake ringing you up. But yes, stand right next to the register and look over your whole receipt, blocking the other customers from leaving.
5. When I've clocked out for my break, and someone asks if I work there...
"I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it"
6. Leaving the clothes inside out
If you're going to leave the clothes inside out, why in the world would you take the time and effort to put them on a hanger, too. I would just prefer you leave them strewn all over the floor.
7. THERE IS NO MORE IN THE BACK
NO, THERE IS NOT MORE IN THE BACK. THERE IS NEVER MORE IN THE BACK.
8. The senior discount is only on Mondays.
End of story. And no, sir. There is not "handsome man" discount, but you are the 3rd imbecile to make that joke today.
9. Complaining to me, a lowly cashier, about an employee in another department will literally accomplish nothing.
I can give you an empathetic facial expression, but that's about it.
10. I cannot check you out if I am counting the money in a drawer.
They can help you at the next register, and you can wait in line for a couple seconds. Anyways, if I'm counting the register and you're still in the store. GET OUT. WE ARE CLOSING.
In conclusion, these are some of the times I've related to Lucille Bluth as a retail worker.
