If you are a student at Louisiana State University, you have seen the LSU Ambassadors. We are a very hands-on, energetic group of leaders who strives to better the university. We are your orientation leaders and your Kickoff LSU tour guide. We are here to recruit, orient, advise and serve as much as possible. However, many people think the LSU Ambassadors are an overly excited organization that is unnecessarily selective. When those people see our yellow polos they automatically assume that we are all the same, and they put us into one big group that talks and acts exactly the same way: LSU all the time. What those people don't know is that there is so much more to the members that make up our group.
Behind the yellow polo, there are unique individuals who are bettering our community through service and leadership. There are men and women of integrity who want to see LSU thrive. There are college students who are struggling to make ends meet, and there are students who are learning what it means to be a role model to the people around them. Some LSU Ambassadors are one hundred percent involved, and some give very little of their time to the organization because it is all they can manage.
One thing we do all have in common is how much we love being an Ambassador. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to serve our university, and we do not take that lightly. We know how great it is that we were chosen for this position, and we strive every day to prove that we earned our spot. This translates into wanting to spread that love to potential LSU Ambassadors. Each fall we have an application process that we use to find the best new representatives for our university. My best advice for anyone interested in applying would be to give it your all. Show your true self and how great you really are, and if you do not get selected, apply again! It is so worth the effort.
I could not have asked for a better experience so far as an LSU Ambassador. Despite being super busy and having a hectic schedule, I always know I can count on my Ambassador friends to have my back and support me one hundred percent of the time. Of course, every organization has its issues and problems, but we work as a group to better the organization little by little and to show the university how much we care.
Joining LSU Ambassadors has allowed me to become more confident, outgoing, and open to new ideas. Thank you, LSU Ambassadors, for being my support system and for allowing me to become the best person I can be.
