I know what I mean when I say Loyola is the most magical place. Most people say Disney World is the most magical place on Earth, but I beg to differ. I truly do believe that there is no other environment you will find yourself fully surrounded by positivity. It’s a place where you are set to succeed; no one around you wants to see you fail. It’s the most wonderful place I could have ended up at for college.
1. Your teachers really do care about you.
I know the biggest cliché when you go to a college is worrying about just being a number in all your classes. Which in some schools that might be right, but I know at Loyola even if I’m sitting in the back of the classroom my teacher knows exactly who I am. Our professors aren’t here for the research, like most big universities, but they are here to teach and be great teachers. So next time you see your professor and you haven’t introduced yourself yet, just go for it.
2. There is an infinite amount of things you can get involved in.
Loyola has athletics and clubs galore. You will find a place where you belong, I can almost promise you that. You can join any of the variety of clubs; there’s Campus Ministry, OPTIONS, any kind of academic club, cooking club, Outdoor Adventure Experience - the list of clubs can go on forever. On campus, there is a place for everyone, and if you can’t find one, you can even start your own.
3. Everyone around you wants you to succeed.
Sometimes, that might seem quite difficult to believe, but it’s true. From your teachers and faculty on campus to your friends, everyone around you is truly concerned about you and is looking out for your best interest.
4. It’s a beautiful place to call home.
Walking across campus, you can’t help but admire the beauty in the architecture of our buildings. You and I both know you’ve instagramed at least one picture of the Humanities building.
5. There is never a dull moment, if you don’t let one be.
If you’re a freshman reading this and trying to find something to do on campus, there’s always something happening whether you know it or not. If you’re an upperclassman, I don’t have to tell you twice, but you can be busy for what it feels like forever.
6. You will meet the most amazing people.
There’s no explanation needed for this one, but you’re bound to meet your best friends within your four years at Loyola. Maybe, you’ll be lucky enough to have a friendship through the next four years with someone you met on your first day at Loyola. Everyone has their own interesting story, and they are just waiting to share it, so go out and meet someone new.
