Loyal Forever Alpha To Thee

A part of my heart will always be with Alpha Omicron Pi, with Theta Sigma, and with the legacy I left behind.

Alpha Omicron Pi. AOII. Just three simple letters.Three seemingly simple, yet somehow life changing letters. Those three letters mean the world to me and my sisters. The Alpha Omicron Pi fraternity stands for sisterhood, for individuality, for philanthropy, for exceeding expectations. And that's just what they do, everywhere they go. My experience comes from a chapter in Texas who just recently earned their charter. My Theta Sigma sisters.

The Theta Sigma chapter at Tarleton State university is constantly exceeding my expectations. We exceeded expectations when we founded a whole chapter on our own, we elected leaders, we created by-laws and standards, we formed committees, we held events, we raised money for our philanthropy The Arthritis Foundation, we created a bond with one another that won't ever be broken. It was not the typical experience that other new members have. We didn't have bigs to guide us, we didn't have rules set in place, we didn't have a Leader's council to guide us. We did not have a typical sorority experience. For some of us the experience was over just as quickly as it began. Within the same school year that we founded Theta Sigma, we became alumnae of the Theta Sigma chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. We worked hard to have every experience possible that we could have before we had to say goodbye. Let me tell you when you work that hard to create bonds and make memories, it's not easy saying goodbye. One minute your signing your charter and the next your crying signing goodbye letters to your sisters.

After my short year spent with AOII, I find myself as an alumna checking in on them often and following them through social media. I am blessed to be where I am in my life now, following my dreams and i'm so proud I finally finished college. But a part of my heart will always be with Alpha Omicron Pi, with Theta Sigma, and with the legacy I left behind. Like I said before, these girls are always exceeding expectations, they are exceeding mine as they go through formal recruitment to build on the legacy we left behind. As my sisters embark on their first formal recruitment, my wish is that they find women who truly, uphold the values of Alpha Omicron Pi. Women who strive to exceed expectations, and women who are loyal forever to our fraternity and to the sisterhood. I can't wait for the new members, to see them fall in love with AOII and to see what they do to make Theta Sigma the best it can be. I am proud to see how far Theta Sigma came to get to this point, and I'm so proud to know that it will only continue from here.

ALAM.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
