One Short Beach Trip Was All It Took For Me To Fall Back In Love With The Life I Am Living

Hello, Odyssey fam, it's me! I'm back after a much-needed break from writing. I had a long period where I could not come up with anything to write about. I had writers' block for lack of a better term. Simply put, I was uninspired. I am back and better than ever though to deliver some awesome content to y'all starting right here.

So, why was I uninspired? It had a lot to do with the fact that I was just complacent in my life. I was comfortable and didn't see anything unique or cool about life to share with y'all. Then the much needed happened.

I went to the beach for two days. That's it. Although that seems like the most pointless beach trip ever, it was the most enriching experience. For the first time in a very long time, I felt like a little kid again.

I was at Fort Lauderdale beach, the place I've been vacationing at with my family since before I could talk. This place has been special to my entire family. The condo my grandmom currently lives in is the exact same one my dad and his siblings would go to when they visited their grandparents just like I do now.

This simple beach and resort, has been my safe haven my entire life. This trip, it gave me the key to a new outlook on life. While at the beach, I put on some old speedo goggles, the ones you wore when you swam summer league swim team at age 6, and grabbed a Pringles can.

My cousins, sister, and I poked holes in the can and ventured into the ocean. We spent two hours, yes two whole hours, in that ocean trying to catch a fish in this Pringles can. We were brutally unsuccessful. However, in those two hours, I realized why I was feeling so uninspired. I hadn't been truly loving the life I was living at all.

Being in the ocean with some old goggles is all it took for me to realize why I was in the rut I was in. Like many, I live a very busy life. My social calendar is always jam-packed and my sorry attempts to balance that with my academic and workload often fall short. I find myself wishing there were more hours in my day to accomplish all of the things I need to do.

Looking at life, and experiencing opportunities that shape who I am, however, make that uninteresting life a little more lively. These experiences make it easier to fall in love with this crazy life we are living. There is so much beauty in loving your life in all circumstances. Most people just exist but in rare cases, some live their lives to the fullest. And absolutely love it.

I encourage you to put on those old speedo goggles and swim in your ocean for 2 hours. Allow yourself to be a young kid again, I promise you, this will allow you to appreciate this life you're living in a whole new way. Fall in love again with your life, and never look back.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
