Loving North Carolina as my Home State

owing up in North Carolina has had its moments. From the rainy days, to the snow days, and to the sunny days. That was all in one week. There is nothing really special when it comes to North Carolina especially when you live outside of the state. Sure we have attractions that people up and down the east coast come too, but what else are we good for?

Here are my reasons for loving North Carolina.

1. University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Tar Heels.

Okay, go ahead. Tell me how Duke is better. Lemme hear it. I have grown up loving the Tar Heels (other then the Volunteers of course) and know how strong of a team they have been through the years. Love my Heels.

2. Biscuitville.

Hello gorgeous. Biscuitville is very well known in North Carolina. It has become a staple. I remember the days of being a senior in high school and being able to drive to Biscuitville with friends, eat then come back before my next class period. Those were the days!

3. The Appalachian Mountains.

Moments of my father driving way too fast around the curves because he finds it exhilarating and funny. Funny because mom and my sister freaks out ever it. The mountains are absolutely breathtaking as you drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else on a sunny day in the middle of fall.

4. Charlotte, North Carolina.

Hey Queens. Love ya. Charlotte is the second largest banking center in the United States. The night life is well...alive and who wouldn't want to move to Charlotte? Why isn't it our state capital again?

5. Southern Hospitality

Need I say more?

6. A Carolina Sunset over the water

When you thought some attractive celebrity man was attractive then you see a true North Carolina sunset in person, you change your mind don't you?

7. Being First in Flight.

Okay, Ohio likes to think they are too. But having a father who is a pilot and knowing a thing or too makes you realize that the textbooks are right and the Wright Brothers were the first to fly.

8. Many singers have created songs about North Carolina. Ever heard of Wagon Wheel?

The song of every sorority girl. The song of every North Carolinian. "I made it down the coast in seventeen hours. Picking me a bouquet of dogwood flowers and I'm hopin' for Raleigh, I can see my baby tonight."

9. "Carolina Can" by Chase Rice

A recent one and one that I have learned every single lyric too. I think you should too. "Now the six string dream on a crazy course has got my compass losing North and I need someone to remind me who I am Yeah, Carolina can."

10. "Carolina On My Mind" by James Taylor

"In my mind I'm going to Carolina. Can't you see the sunshine, can't you feel the moonshine? Ain't it just like a friend of mine hit me from behind? Yes, I'm going to Carolina in my mind."

North Carolina known for many things. These are just a few to show how much North Carolina means to me. If I had lived anywhere else, I don't think I would of grown up to be who I am today. North Carolina, my family, and my friends have shaped me to be who I am today. A Carolina girl and a Tar Heel.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
