An Open Letter To My Dog

You truly are my best friend

An Open Letter To My Dog

To my furry best friend,

There are very few things in this world that make me happier than you. Hearing your paws against the floor in the morning coming to greet me, your collar jiggling when I call your name and your tail wagging every time you see me are the best feelings in the world. You bring incredible joy to my life. I've only had you for two years, but you have already changed my life.

I laugh every time you bark at the TV or run into something. You jump on me when you want me to carry you around, and you cry when I shut the door to take a shower, despite how annoying you are sometimes I will always love you. I don't understand why you roll on your food before you eat it, why you chew the ears off your stuffed animals, or why you only bury your head under the blankets. All I know is you're my best friend.

I'm sorry I can't take you everywhere with me. I'm sorry for the countless hours I ignored you when I was studying for classes. I'm sorry I don't always take you for walks. I'm sorry I choose to go out with my friends instead of staying with you. I wish you knew how guilty I feel every time I have to leave you home alone. It honestly breaks my heart.

When people ask if I have a dog or what the most important thing is to me I take my phone out and show them the thousands of pictures I have of you. ( You're also always the background on my phone) When I'm out with friends I brag about how good you are and tell them something cute you did that day. They probably think I'm crazy, but that's alright because you're my baby.

I can only dream about what it would be like to be a dog. So carefree and trusting of everyone. To be so happy when someone throws your tennis ball for you. To sleep on command and to be so free of worries. A dogs life is blissful. Humans could learn a lesson from our furry friends on life. Have endless love, don't worry, and remember the simple joys.

You're always down for an adventure. You're always excited to go for a ride in the car even if it's just with me to Starbucks. You will always work out with me. You will go with me on late night drives when I need to clear my mind without complaint. You never judge me. You always lay with me for countless hours when I'm studying and I can't thank you enough.

I wish you could understand how much I appreciate you. You are always happy to see me. You are a completely different species, but you are my best friend. Even when I talk to you, you seem to understand me in your own way. You know when I'm sad and lick my tears away. You let me cuddle you when I know you don't want to. You lay with me all day when I'm sick and you seem to know that I can't play with you that day. You start to cry when you hear my car pull up after a long day and you're there waiting with a thousand kisses. When people are people, it makes me appreciate you even more.

You're my baby, furry friend, but most of all my best friend. I hope I make you as happy as you make me. I don't know what I would do without you. I wish you could live forever and it kills me that you can't. But, I promise to make your years the best that I can. I have never met anyone who would be so loyal, care, and love me no matter what I do. I wish you knew that you truly do mean the world to me. I love you so much. Thank you for everything you do for me.

Love,

Your Human Best Friend

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
