Loving Hard Can Hurt; But It's a Beautiful Strength

Think about this next time you call someone 'weak' for falling in love yet again.

"The amount of love you give someone is proportionate to how badly they can hurt you."

I have always been the type of person that feels something about everything, and I feel it hard, so when it comes to love, I love hard and I love fully. I always have and I always will, but the immense happiness and joy that comes from loving like this also comes at a cost. When you love someone with every fiber of your being, when you would do anything in the entire world for someone you love it's hard to accept anything less in return.

There are plenty of people in this world who can't jump into love head first without a second thought, there are people who need to dip their toes and feel the temperatures first, people who need to step in as slowly as they can, people who are cautious about who they are handing their hearts too, and that's okay, there's nothing wrong with these people. Just the same, there's nothing wrong with people like me, people who love hard and love fully without even a blink of an eye. People who love hard are often viewed as weak, as people who are willing to hand themselves to whomever is willing to take them, and as needing to fill their empty spaces with someone else just to feel whole, but that's not the case at all.

It takes an incredible amount of strength to give every part of yourself to someone, and it takes even more power and strength to do it again and again after having your heart broken so many times. It's hard to hand someone all your love and trust on a silver platter after it's been betrayed in every way possible. To continue to trust people with the fragility of your heart and mind takes strength that is often never seen. People who continue to love immensely and wholly after being let down and stepped on time and time again, are some of the strongest of them all. They are able to put aside the past, and the pain they feel from being broken so many times before, and put faith, hope, and courage into their future. They put this hope in yet one more person, knowing damn well that they could easily be broken again, but still they don't let it stop them, and that to me, is one of the most amazing strengths a person can have.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
