If you haven't noticed lately, grey, black, and white are all the rage in the fashion world. These colors are sleek and sharp. They mean business, and are super easy to match up; no wonder they are trending, right?
Recently I had a moment where I pondered purchasing more black/grey clothing, and I contemplated what my closet and style would look like if I simply switched to wearing those tones. I would be so hipster. What a beautiful thing to be in today's society, am I right? Haha. It didn't take long for me to laugh at myself and realize that's not me.
Do I wear black and grey? Sometimes, yes. And for those that rock it, more power to you! That's your style, stick with it. But deep inside me, there is a child-like obsession with color. It's who I am, and no matter how hard I try to be "trendy", I can't step away from color. So I shall stop trying!
If my clothes could talk, or represent who I am, I can guarantee you they wouldn't represent grey and gloomy. They wouldn't represent a certain stereotype or clean cut lifestyle; they wouldn't be sleek and completely put together. Instead, if my clothes could talk, they would say I am mismatched as all get out! They would probably be different patterns and colors, and most likely have a coffee stain or two, because Lord knows I'm not perfect. If they truly represented who I was, there would be paint splatters somewhere, because life can get messy. Things don't go as planned, coffee spills, but the color remains. If my clothes could talk, they would laugh obnoxiously and tell of my silly sense of humor, because that's who I am.
So, no matter where the fashion train goes, I'll stick to wearing color. I'll stick to confidence within myself and dressing with vibrant colors or patterns to match my personality.
I encourage you to let your style reflect who you are; don't go with the flow. I'm aware that statement sounds uber cliche, but it's truth! As I type this, I feel like a disney channel commercial star, but trust me! You are unique; there is literally only one of you. Barriers of the fashion world shouldn't stop you from representing your personality through your clothing.
