A new alternative rock band is on the horizon. lovelytheband just released their debut album, "finding it hard to smile". The lyrics take us through the motions of dealing with anxiety and depression, trying to get through relationships and day to day stuff with a really fun, danceable beat.
I don't know about you but I love being able to dance through my sadness.
Seriously, music that has the deep lyrics that you can sit back and just listen to and then be able to rock out to it in your car brings me so much closer to the music. I feel a connection when I can listen to the lyrics and then relate it to a direct story in my life. It's music that is perfect for any mood, when you wanna just lie down and when you wanna dance.
Maybe it's these emotions, the feelings of isolation and sadness and longing, that make a song so good. The more you can connect to the song, the better it is. I think people my age are learning to appreciate the lyrics of a song more and more. The lyrics are what capture our hearts.
Music, like all art forms, is supposed to make us feel something. I think lovelytheband's new album is a great example of how music is an art that makes us feel. While also being full of fun songs, they also hit you right in the feelings.
Songs like "alone time" and "pity party" capture the feel of what it's like to feel really lonely, and not knowing how to handle it. "Pity party" specifically is one of my favorite songs on the album because it's asking "who wants to come be sad with me?" but it's a party song.
If you want to really over analyze the album it's very metaphorical for being able to hide your emotions with a fake smile, until it becomes harder to fake.
Whether you wanna get deep about it or not, it's always good to have some great music on your side.
Lovelytheband's debut album is fantastic, even if you're finding it hard to smile, they might make it a little easier.
