To The Person Who Doesn't Love Themselves

It's okay to not love yourself all the time, but it is also okay to love yourself all the time.

I've written a couple of articles on self-love, insecurities, and being happy. This is for everyone out there who is still trying to find their way to happiness & appreciating the obstacles that come with it. You are only given one body & you are one human being.

LOVE YOURSELF WHEN...you feel like your world Is crashing down

You have to get through the bad in order to appreciate the good. Do not give up on yourself just yet and be strong enough so you can get through the tough times in your life. Tell yourself that you will be okay & everything will turn out good eventually

LOVE YOURSELF WHEN... you feel guilty when eating that extra piece of cake

Listen, I struggle through with this all the time, but your body needs food in order to survive...so if you want that piece of cake, don't deprive yourself of it... EAT IT! Your body is too precious to be wasted on starving yourself from some good food. Tell yourself that it is okay & that food is extremely delicious

LOVE YOURSELF WHEN...nothing seems to be going your way

You might be becoming stressed with others around you, with school, your job, etc. Just know that you always have you and that is never going to change. So when nothing seems to be going right, just think back on loving yourself & that you are your own support system.

LOVE YOURSELF WHEN... you feel awkward meeting new people

It always is extremely awkward to be meeting people/friends for the first time. Sometimes you tend to put a barrier up around you, so no one knows what you are really like. In all honesty, you are perfectly fine & anyone is lucky to be your friend. You do not have to hide your imperfections. You want to be the real you when meeting new faces, so show yourself off & love yourself!

LOVE YOURSELF WHEN... your anxiety shows through

I know many do not have anxiety, but this can also mean stress & other things relating to anxiety. When one has anxiety, it tends to make them feel shy, worried, stressed, & hides away the true person you are. I know anxiety sucks, but you have to show anxiety that you can love yourself even if it is the most terrible thing to ever happen. Anxiety doesn't come out when you are strong and powerful; show it that you love yourself.

LOVE YOURSELF WHEN...everything seems to be perfect

You may be sitting on a chair somewhere staring into the fire & appreciating all you have to offer in this world. Do not be afraid to love yourself & show appreciation even when life seems to be going well. You will not come off as being conceited, but thankful for what this life has given you and what is has yet to show you. Love yourself when it all seems to be finally going right.

Good luck!

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
