Spring has sprung and so has my schedule. Every year I feel like life gets a little busier during the springtime. When we realize summer is upon us, the anticipation may cause a little anxiety to set in. Spring fever is real. After a lazy winter its normal to get this feeling of excitement and energy. With the new found energy brought on during the beginning of spring, we begin to line up all these tasks we want to accomplish and changes we want to make. Along with all the anticipation, it is also a time when things are coming to an end, like the school year. It's safe to say that the springtime can make you feel slightly overwhelmed.
For me, this overwhelming feeling is especially prevalent as my chapter of academic education will come to an end in May. I feel like I am experiencing the spring plague rather than spring fever. Whether it's the anticipation of my future or the fear of leaving college and entering the real world, the thought of the spring coming to an end has been a constant on my mind. I currently have a laundry list of all the tasks I need or even want to complete before the summer heat hits. Although not everything on my list is of severe importance, I still can't seem to fight the urge to do it all. But here is the thing, we have to be easier on ourselves, I mean I am no superwoman.
The busy energy is upon me and I feel this need to ground myself so that I can accomplish all that needs to be while remaining stable. Just trying to find that balance between doing everything and doing nothing, which is a common dissonance I find myself in. I am usually someone who is very go-with-the-flow but right now I need to focus on being more organized and disciplined. I owe it to myself to change my normal behaviors so that I can have a productive springtime and put all this high energy to good use. With that being said however its important to not hyperfocus on all the tasks set out in front of you and still enjoy the moment.
It's crucial that during this time of hustle and bustle, we don't forget to check in ourselves from time to time and analyze how we are handling hecticness. We need to stop and ask ourselves can we accomplish this or should we prioritize and focus more on something that isn't exhausting. Your mental health should be your top priority. So love on yourselves a little more than usual so that the spring can help you grow rather than give you a "fever". Pay more attention to the way you are feeling and the way that something that may hold a lot of pressure on you is affecting your happiness. You can achieve anything if you work hard enough but if it is working you hard then you can handle take a step back. Find a balance.
