As Valentine's Day is coming up, a lot of sweethearts are trying to come up with plans and gifts for each other. This holiday is for them. And for the single people... well they hate Valentine's day because they have nobody to be with. But is this really right? The short answer is no, but the longer answer is there shouldn't be a reason that they should not have a day for themselves.

First of all, they don't have a partner. Not having a partner means that you get to be free to be yourself since you don't have to make compromises.

Second, you don't have to spend any money unless you want to. You don't have to spend money on a significant other and if you are in college that is a great thing because you are probably broke, anyways. But you could also get something for yourself.

Third, you got to know yourself before you can know somebody else. Really do some soul searching the singles might be getting a partner and the couples might break up. You don't know, but at least on Valentine's day, if you were a single, you don't have to worry about your heart being broken by a jerk who would dump you on Valentine's Day.

And fourth you have to love who you are in order to love who you are with. So guess what you don't have any distractions stopping you from knowing and loving who you are. And, if you are single you have, hopefully, loved yourself for a long time so you can without a doubt love someone else. Maybe even stronger than someone who loves someone else.

So guess what all of you out there who are single have a single's day on Valentine's Day you get to treat yourself. And couples whoever you are, boy and girl or girl and girl or boy and boy or whatever and whatever, have a fantastic Valentine's Day but don't hurt the singles.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
