I was young, probably not even born when you decided to start eating healthy so that I can get the nutrition I needed. I was born and you just had to go through probably the worst physical pain a human can ever endure. But you still looked me in the eye and kissed my forehead, because you loved me.
When I started walking, you held my hand and helped me walk a few steps, knowing that this journey is nothing compared to life's journey, you taught me how to handle myself when I fall.
Whenever I failed at something, you gave me a hug and told me to try again. You allowed me to explore myself and stand for what's rightfully mine. When I graduated high school, you came over to me and kissed me on the forehead, symbolizing how proud you were of my achievements.
Now, many years have passed since I have seen you. Much time has passed since you gave me a kiss on the forehead. I miss the talks we had about my childhood. I miss the hands that created magic in the kitchen. Now, I'm at your spot. I don't know how you did it, but mom, you are a true superhero.
It's true. Moms are a blessing and the sooner we realize that the better. We college students have come to prioritize everything over our moms, a trend I see today that isn't healthy. We are so involved in our own lives that even a phone call a day seems to be a nuisance. We forget that they nourished us and made us this capable of being in college and being an independent human being.
Think about it this way. We don't owe them anything because nothing would be worth the sacrifice they made throughout the years. As days pass by, we get old and so do our Moms. So call them up and tell them that you love them. Because life is short and they sure as hell would appreciate a love you from you time to time.
