13 Sacrifices We All Make For Our Best Friends

They may drive us crazy sometimes, but we've gotta love 'em.

13 Sacrifices We All Make For Our Best Friends

We all have those best friends that we love to death. You know, the ones you'll do even the most random things for - even if it means picking up a FaceTime call at 2 a.m. to go get Steak 'n Shake. These are the people that you expect to be at your wedding; the people you call up whenever you're in need, or you simply just have a funny story to tell. The people you'd do absolutely anything for.

Having a relationship with someone in which you're best friends with that person is one of the most incredible experiences one could have. I know that my best friends will always be there for me no matter the situation, and I pray that they know I will always be there for them as well. My friends are family to me, and just like family, they can drive me crazy sometimes.

Having best friends is truly a blessing; however, sometimes it can be a curse. I know for a fact that there have been times where my best friends have made me want to pull my hair out (or theirs to be honest.) But these people are just too important to me for me to complain.

Here are some funny things that we all deal with when we have best friends - I think we can all relate to at least a few.

1. Changing your outfit when you walk out wearing the same clothes.

2. Going out when you really don't want to.

3. Accompanying him/her to appointments when you definitely have other things to do.

4. Getting food even though you're broke and not even hungry.

5. Making bad decisions just for his/her entertainment.

6. Doing your hair and makeup and getting dressed just for Instagram photos.

7. Following his/her ex so he/she can still stalk him/her.

8. Putting up with hearing the same story 15 times.

9. Telling a restaurant it's his/her birthday to get him/her a free dessert.

10. Giving advice on what to answer a love interest's text.

11. Staying up late and sacrificing sleep because you have to comfort him/her.

12. Saying you're REALLY going to start going to the gym this time.

13. Spending all of your money on him/her because you just love him/her so dang much.

I could quite literally sit at my desk all day and compile a list of the hundreds of things I do for my best friends on the daily. At the end of the day, I just want to say a huge "thank you" to those people in my life that have remained constant. You all may be a pain sometimes, but you truly are all the MVPs. I wouldn't want to live a life without you all in it.

So here's an ode (or a listicle) to all the best friends out there that make us do crazy things - we love you!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
