I’ve been Yelping for a couple years now and I've reviewed a variety of business, many in my home town but lots to the places I travel!
Sometimes I have a friend ask why I bother reviewing places and I guess my answer is two-fold: 1) I think it’s fun 2) I value what other people have to say about establishments and I appreciate the time they have taken to review a place. I’ve narrowly missed purchasing groupons to “spas” that were anything but that because of people’s Yelp reviews. Basically, Yelp saves my butt, and my wallet.
Baring that there are many reasons I love Yelping… sometimes I wish I had more time for it because I have a ton more places I need to review but haven’t gotten around to. Regardless, my favorite reasons for Yelping in no-particular order are as follows:
– I have an endless list of places I want to go and places I want to travel to. I love this because I’m able to find some hidden local gems in cities I’ve never been to and I know what to stay away from! I’m not a huge fan of doing touristy things when I travel so checking out fantastic restaurants that the locals love is right up my alley!
– I’m able to interact with amazing people in my city that I otherwise would never have met. I love Manchester NH, and was apprehensive to move to Boston but when I did move at the beginning of the summer I was immediately welcomed into the Yelp community and was able to attend an event and meet more fantastic people. Yelp is a great community of reviewers and inspires you at the same time.
