There's a special place in my heart for the North, and a special place for the South. I don't think I'll ever be able to pick one over the other. The South is what made me who I am today, though, and this list of (mostly food-related) things could go on. I know I'm not the only one who knows that life wouldn't be the same without these Southern gems.

4. People are polite.

8. Everything is fried, and when vegetables are fried, they’re still healthy.
9. Catching lightning bugs.
10. Tables get set with china and cloth napkins.
11. Thank you notes.
12. Pearls. Pearls everywhere.
13. Y’all
14. The humidity gives everyone great skin.
15. Chick-fil-A
16. Southern hospitality is definitely a thing.
17. Floral print clothing.
18. Barbecue means barbecue, not hot dogs and hamburgers.

20. Pickup trucks.
21. Snow is fictional.
22. River tubing
23. All hearts are blessed.

25. Country music
26. Spanish moss
27. People don’t get offended.

30. There are gentleman, and chivalry is alive and well.

41. Really, though, just the fruit in general. Freshly picked, obviously.

44. Honey and sugar are not only baking ingredients, but also terms of endearment.

46. The second amendment is well known and well loved.

49. A lot of Southerners love Jesus.
50. You can take the girl out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of the girl.
