Why I Love The Kardashians

Because their lives are more pathetic than my own, and I love it.

I never in a million years thought I would be saying this, but here I am, completely infatuated with the show that is "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" (KUWTK).

It all started several years ago in middle school. I was over at a friends house when I noticed she had KUWTK playing on the TV while we were eating breakfast. I remember being in shock that someone I knew actually watched the show. How could anyone watch such a shallow show? Little did I know that seven years later, I would be that person.

"What made you change your mind?" you may ask. Well, until this year, I had never actually watched the show. I had been so adamantly against everything Kardashian that I never even gave them a chance. So, this summer, I decided to watch it. After the first episode I watched, I was hooked.

I do not approve of the way they act or flaunt themselves in the public eye, but there's something about them that I can't seem to stay away from. I love the glamour of their lives. I love the drama. I love the odd family dynamic. But mostly, I love that it requires no thought on my part. Everyone has their own unique way of unwinding after a long day of work. Mine consists of sitting on the couch with dark chocolate and a few episodes of KUWTK. Lucky for me, E! is always playing episodes.

If you have never seen the show, here's the low down: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Rob are the kids of Robert Kardashian (famous defense attorney in the OJ Simpson trial) and Kris Jenner. Robert and Kris divorced. Kris married Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner) and had Kylie and Kendall. The Kardashians' claim to fame is their famous fathers, but let's be honest, it's really Kim's sex tape. So all the kids are now famous and Kris is their agent. The only one that I know has a job is Kendall (she's a model), but the others I assume get their money from fame. That's pretty much the gist of it.

The show is completely unrealistic, but that's what makes it so great. When I watch KUWTK, I get to escape reality and join the Kardashian family on their many adventures. I get to watch petty fights between them that always get resolved. I get to witness Kim "ugly cry" when she doesn't get her way. I get to see the bizarre social and physical transformer that is Kylie Jenner. I get to see Khloe and Kourtney gang up on Kim. I get to see Scott be Lord Scott. I get to enjoy someone else's crazy life and I love it.

I would like to send a personal "thank you" to the Kardashian clan. Thank you for opening your life up to the public and for living an excessive lifestyle. Thank you for letting me have 30 minutes of "me" time after a long day of work.

So next time you're looking for new ways to unwind, give reality TV a try. You'll soon discover their lives are more pathetic than your own, but you'll love them all the more for it.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
