Why I Love Thanksgiving

When someone is inquired about their favorite holiday, their answer is usually with Christmas or Halloween. I love Thanksgiving. There is nothing better than a day specifically for food, fun, and family. The best part of thanksgiving, is the anticipation. Whenever the food is being prepared, you can only imagine what it is like once it hits your tastebuds. The kitchen fills with aromas, sweet, and savory

Your ears fill with Christmas music from the parade, filling you with anticipation for the upcoming Christmas season. You anxiously await for your favorite float or balloon in the parade


, or your dog to strut out into its place at the national dog show. It becomes all about the waiting. You see, at christmas the anticipation is over, and there is always a sort of sad nostalgia once that morning is all said and done. The reason why I love thanksgiving is because the anticipation is still just beginning, getting ready to fill the month ahead.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here.
