Love is such a weird feeling and emotion. Our society makes love out to be something easy, magical and full of fun... this is often leaving both boys and girls feeling hopeless when their first "love" doesn't work out.
I feel that by the time you reach high school you have gone through a heartbreak with a significant other. It seems so young, 14 and knowing what "love" is, but that is the society we live in today.
Love is a complicated thing -- most of us know that we love our mom, dad and that crazy puppy of yours. But when you open yourself up to someone not in your family it is like a whole new ball game. It's a different kind of love, I promise you no love is like one another. There is the I love you because I have to, because I want to and because I don't know how not to.
At 15 years old I thought I knew what love was -- one of those sappy T-swift songs about him on the football team. Now a little over five years later, love for me has gained a new meaning.
Love is what makes you smile, dream of what you can make of yourself and that I want to strangle you feeling. Love isn't about 300 texts a day. It's the time you share and what you make out of that time. But most importantly love is a reflection of yourself. It shows your strength and commitment to yourself and others. It is a test to see if you can stay true to who you are, your morals and what makes you happy all well including someone who means so much to you. (Now if you do that successfully that's true love.)
Society today makes love out to be something it's not. They make it seem easy -- but ask anyone who has been married five+ years it's a lot of work and effort to keep love alive. It is also nothing like the songs, or movies you see.
Love isn't just some boy throwing rocks and your window... It's so much more.
