If You Love Something, Set It Free

The cliche to live by for relationships, emotions and passions.

If You Love Something, Set It Free

There's an old saying. "If you love something set it free. If it comes back to you then it was meant to be."

I used to think it was stupid until I decided to listen to it one day.

I believe that everything happens for a reason, even if I do not know what that reason is at that moment in time. One day, you will, though. Everything always has a way of working itself out in the end. Now, this is not just talking about relationships, which is what most people associate this cliche with. I am talking about relationships, hobbies and everything in between.

Letting something go that means so much to you is never easy. But neither is holding on. You cannot spend your life holding onto the hope that something might change. That everything will work out for this one tough thing that means so much to you.

Letting go can and will tear you apart inside if you let it. You will find yourself wrestling with your brain, heart and reality. Do not let it. Take control of your life. Think about yourself for once and how everything going on in your life makes you feel. Learn to love yourself first and foremost.

Loving is a completely different story. Whether it is an activity, a person, a physical thing or a feeling, letting yourself love something is extremely difficult. Now I am only 19, so I do not know much about life. But my parents have taught me enough to make my own choices, even if they are difficult.

You make the choice to love. It does not matter who or what you chose to love. But in turn, you make the choice to get hurt in the end. Sometimes, the love is not worth the daily suffering. Sometimes, the pain of letting go hurts worse than holding on.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
