I don't know about you guys, but I think road trips are the most fun kind of trips out there! Sure, you are crammed in a car with all of your belongings and sit in endless traffic in the heat, but think about the great stops along the way and who you road trip with! The biggest road trip I ever took was to Virginia Beach with my family; a 14-hour car ride with six people in a mini van with little to no leg room was actually way more fun than it may sound. Ever since this road trip, I have really enjoyed long car rides to great destinations.
Since I am embarking on a trip up to Maine soon, I thought it was appropriate to share with you some reasons why a good old-fashioned road trip is a great adventure to add to your summer plans!
Car Ride Snacks
I love going shopping before a long trip because that means all the junk food I could ever want. I'm talking salty chips to sweet gummies and anything else you can munch on as you drive. It's an excuse to eat all the stuff you can't get on an airplane! Also, buying snacks before you leave can save a lot of money instead of buying them on the road!
Creating the Road Trip Playlist
It's always important to have a good selection of jams handy so you aren't stuck listening to obnoxious commercials on the radio. You can create a variety of playlists for different points in the ride to get you pumped up or mellow you out! And above all, music is a great way to pass the time.
Road Trip Pals
The people you share your journey with can make or break your trip. Choose your traveling companions wisely to ensure an awesome experience and one you will never want to forget!
if you are road tripping with your family, put aside all the usual family drama and use the long trip as a way to bond and learn more about your parents and siblings. There's nothing worse than a family feud in rush hour traffic.
Little Treasures
You will probably see a lot of great things on your trip through the states. Depending on how long your trip is, you can probably pencil in some time to stop and see some sights along the way. This makes the journey even more exciting, because you could never do this on a plane or train.
The Feeling of Finally Getting There
After all the preparation, traffic, gas and breaks, you finally make it to your destination. There is no better feeling than finally making it to where you want to be. It's even more satisfying because you already got to see so much more of the world on the way there. The journey seems more worth it, and the destination seems even better.
Those are just a few things that I love about taking road trips. There's nothing better than sharing some laughs, jamming out and being adventurous with people you love. It's rewarding taking the slower road. If you take time to look around and really enjoy the journey, you will be so much more satisfied and happy that you did it!
As Ferris Bueller once said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it." Take time to look around and enjoy the people around you!
