So often in our world, we question what true love is or when we will ever find it, but we do not always take time to realize the love that we have always had.
In scripture, God says that He is love. If He is love, and we know Him, then we also know love.
1 John 4:19, "We love because He first loved us."
The ultimate sign of love that this world will ever know was Jesus taking on all of our sins and dying in our place. That is true love.
The Son of God who is perfect, fully man and fully God, came down to Earth because He loved us. He took on our weight and carried our burdens so that we do not have to. That is unfathomable love.
If you ever have a moment of feeling as if you are not loved or you are not good enough to be loved, just look to the cross. Cast your gaze upon the Savior of this world who had nails beaten into His hands for you. He had a spear thrust in His side for you, and He died for you.
His death was so brutal, but death still could not conquer Him because three days later, He rose from the grave.
The Lord did not have to do this for you and me, but He did anyways. He desires to have a relationship with each one of us to give Him glory and give us fulfillment and purpose.
His love is the only love that will ever completely satisfy us and save us from our burdens, regrets, and mistakes.
Because of the Gospel, we can love others as well. This love may be found in a marriage, dating relationship, parental relationship or friendship, and it is so good, but the love of Christ is the only kind of love that could ever save us.
This Valentine's Day, let us love one another deeply with the love given to us from Christ. When Christ is within us, love overflows because life no longer becomes about living for ourselves, but it is turned upside down to focus on Jesus and other people.
The love of Jesus makes us mission minded because the love of the Gospel is the greatest kind of love we could ever receive. People will fail us, but The Lord never will.
Jesus shows us that we are loved, treasured, adored, created, intricately designed, beautiful, special, unique, cherished, and His children-- if you know Him.
Knowing The Lord means that you know love Himself. When love is a person and not simply a word that is so widely and vaguely used, there appears a deeper meaning behind it all.
Love is the Gospel. Love gave His life for us, and love conquered death for us. Because of this love, we have a purpose, and that is to spread this love to the nations and let them know how loved they truly are and about the sacrifice made for them.
Love others deeply.
