Love. When looking this word up there are at least 12 definitions with everything from 'feeling tender about' or 'desiring someone' or 'having sex' to 'worshiping a god' or a 'score in sports'. With the various definitions, perhaps a more important consideration would be to place the emphasis on the word unconditional as applied to love.
I believe that unconditional love does exist. Though this form of love is not very common it is out there.
Yet, some would like to say differently, and others see it as somewhat of a crutch. These views on unconditional love is flawed to me. How can one say that this is what unconditional love does to people?
These views do not dictate unconditional love at all. This form of love should not promote those qualities in others. Unconditional love is an action as well as a feeling that should not hinder one's personal growth but promote others' wellbeing and quicken their progress. Unconditional love should never hold someone back. People can start the process of holding someone back when they start to add conditions into the realm of love. When one has or wants unconditional love or even general love, one cannot have this.
So, in all actuality is not all love unconditional, for if it carries conditions- I'll love you if you love me, if you pay the bills if you blah blah blah...- it is not love but emotional blackmail. This cannot be good for the person or persons in this situation. Love should just come/happen without one expecting anything in return.
I feel that when one can truly give to everyone and everything freely without self being involved, only then will one be really experiencing and sharing love. to nurture and truly embody what it means to love selflessly. Essentially, love in this form is truly the way it should be thought about and practiced. For it is the truest and most reliable form of love where i stand on the subject.
Love is very precious, mysterious, and complex. Unconditional love to me is the most official concept or picture of love. I feel this way because it really brings into context one of the essential parts of what love is: unselfishness.
I feel when one is able to truly take oneself out of the context of love then one can truly experience it. Real love only wants to be released. It doesn't care who or what it is given to as long as it is given.
