I Love Myself, Do You?

Be confident and rock a crop top

I follow tons of body positive blogs. I love to see the articles on Facebook and the pictures on Instagram. My problem with these blogs is that I have an obsession with reading comments on these posts. I guess I like to be angry and argue with faceless people on my phone.

Whenever I watch a video of a girl being happy with her body enough to wear a crop top, I see a comment that says that she's glorifying obesity or that she has no self-respect. Some keyboard bully will go off on how it is unattractive to be "fat" and wear a crop top. Then someone who is defensive of the post will attack a commenter's appearance.

I want an explanation as to when how someone represents themselves is anyone else's business. If my curvy self wants to wear a crop top and my chubby belly is gonna show, then that is my choice. I respect myself enough to love how I look no matter what anyone says. My confidence does not affect your life. I will be in sweats if I want and I will dress up if I want.

Every time I see a negative comment that degrades I have a rant that I'd like to share. For those of you that want to hate on others: stay in your lane. The girl that walks with her head held high, does not need your negativity bringing her down. Cudos to you for being confident in yourself, but just because someone has a different body type then you or a different style, that does not mean they should not have confidence. Just like you love yourself, let others love themselves.

For those that want to be confident in their every day: Rock the crop tops and the shorts if you want or don't. Wear the bikini or the one piece. Wear makeup or don't. Rock natural hair or straighten it. Wear what you are comfortable in and love yourself. Screw others and their opinions. Your body is your choice. Love yourself no matter what. Screw what everyone else thinks and be happy with your choices. Wear what you want and be who you want.

I just want to see someone be confident and not be torn down. I want to know that loving yourself does not make you a target. Why can't we just let people be happy with themselves? Just let them wear whatever the hell they want without judgment. Keep your opinions to yourself and focus on how you feel about what you wear. Do not project your insecurities onto others, when you are jealous of their ability to walk around without fear of being judged by others. No one deserves to be treated like crap because they wore an outfit that made them smile when they looked in the mirror.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
