First off, Meryl Streep, you go girl. If you haven't heard or read Meryl Streep's speech from Sunday night's Golden Globes, you should get your eyes on it as soon as possible. Meryl Streep captures the hearts of those around her and here is why.

Even though she has won numerous awards, they do not represent who she is as a person. Meryl is everything a role model for women across the world should be. She stands for what she believes in, rejects what she doesn't, she isn't afraid to stand for what is right or raise her voice, and has created new paths for women throughout her career. This is why we should love Meryl Streep.
On Sunday, at The Golden Globes, she was recognized for an award that she received. Her acceptance speech hits on everything that our nation is struggling with right now, and slams Trump. She talks about how in Hollywood, everyone is different and foreigners. They all come from different places and backgrounds. Without the diversity, we would be nothing. This is a huge point that she is making. Despite this point, her next quote is what really sank in, "But there was one performance this year that stunned me. It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good; there was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh, and show their teeth. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life. And this instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life, because it kinda gives permission for other people to do the same thing. Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others we all lose. Okay, go on with it." Let's think about this. Is this what we want for our country and lives? He might be our new leader, but we should not take on his careless and hurtful characteristics. The press gives Trump the attention that he wants, and continues to fuel the fire. I support Meryl Streep's speech and all she does.
Meryl Streep was well known and well outspoken before given her speech. She is up front about what she stands for and what she doesn't. Here are quotes that support why we should be loving Meryl Streep.
