I Love Makeup And I'm Not Ashamed

When did loving makeup become a negative thing?

I Love Makeup And I'm Not Ashamed
What She Does Now

First of all, when did loving makeup become a bad thing? When did it become bad to love yourself and to build your self-confidence with makeup? I am 100% pro makeup, because I know what it does for girls.

Think about this. If you had or have a daughter and someone told you that something existed that could improve their confidence level immensely, would you be interested? For so many girls, makeup is exactly this. Although I am a firm believer that girls do have to learn to love themselves without makeup, I see no problem with girls wanting to wear makeup because I see no problem with anything that gives girls more confidence.

See, for some reason girls who wear a lot of makeup are looked at in a negative light. People will talk bad about them and say things like, "they just want more attention" or "they would look so much better without that much makeup" and the one that never fails, "she's wearing that to impress guys", but the thing is... if it is making them feel beautiful why do we care? As women, shouldn't we be building one another up and not tearing one another down?

Trust me, there are days when I do not wear one drop of makeup around town and while I am still confident, I would be lying to you if I said I didn't feel way better about myself when I'm wearing makeup! The thing is, girls who don't wear any makeup, are just as beautiful as those who do. What the major issue is, is what makes someone feel the best. We could all look at a girl and agree that she looks way better with less makeup, but she may not feel this way. My point is, we should all want everyone to feel the best about themselves as they possibly can.

On another note, some people don't even feel like they need a lot of makeup, they just love doing it. Doing makeup is a hobby just like anything else, you just wear your work on your face in this case. Makeup is so fun in my opinion. Waiting for release dates on products, watching YouTube tutorials trying to get better, swatching makeup in Sephora, and doing makeup on your friends are some of my favorite things. This hobby is something that can keep me entertained for hours, and I know I'm not the only one because many YouTube makeup artists have millions of subscribers. Makeup is just fun for some girls, and excuse us if we wanna do something fun!

We shouldn't slam girls for wanting to increase their confidence, or have fun with makeup. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with makeup or with the concept of enhancing our natural beauty. On the other hand, we shouldn't slam girls who don't wear any makeup because they are just as beautiful! In fact, girls who don't wear make-up are pretty brave, and they probably have a lot of confidence which is awesome. Whatever type of girl you are, just show the other type respect. We don't all have to be the same!

It all goes back to being a nice person. Accept someone the way they are, and as long as they're happy, let them be.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
