Who doesn't want their love to be a burning ring of fire? A spark of attraction that ignites a fire of passion. Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash are actual relationship goals. A love like theirs is not always easy, but in the end it is worth it. I want to love like Johnny and June did. I want to walk the line till the end of time. When my love is gone, I want to go too. We should all aim to love like Johnny and June; here's why.
1. Johnny Cash wrote the sweetest love letters.
One of the most famous love letters of all time was a letter that Johnny Cash wrote to June Carter Cash on her 65th birthday--I can't argue against it.
Happy Birthday Princess,
We get old and get used to each other. We think alike. We read each others minds. We know what the other wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes take each other for granted.
But once in awhile, like today, I meditate on it and realize how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 Earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much.
Happy Birthday Princess.
John
2. Nobody compared to June in Johnny's eyes.
Every woman wants their significant other to feel that way about them. We all want to be someone's "one and only".
"She's the greatest woman I have ever known. Nobody else, except my mother, comes close.”
-Johnny Cash
3. They made a phenomenal duo.
Their voices were made for each other. If you haven't listened to them singing together, you may want to do so. It will melt your heart.
4. Their love was unconditional.
June stayed by Johnny's side despite his struggle with drug addiction. She wanted to help him work through it rather than leave him because of it.
"There’s unconditional love there. You hear that phrase a lot but it’s real with me and her [June Carter]. She loves me in spite of everything, in spite of myself. She has saved my life more than once. She’s always been there with her love, and it has certainly made me forget the pain for a long time, many times. When it gets dark and everybody’s gone home and the lights are turned off, it’s just me and her."
-Johnny Cash
5. Their love never died.
Even after June Carter Cash died in 2003, Johnny still loved her just as much as when she was physically here. Three months later when Johnny passed away, they were reunited in heaven.
"I have always enjoyed being a part of his life. I've always loved him, and he's always loved me.”
-June Carter Cash, 2002.
