A Love Letter To Whataburger

When I need food, you are always there.

A Love Letter To Whataburger

Whataburger,

Wow, even when I type your name I get hungry. I can't help it -- your fries, burgers, chicken, biscuits, even your ketchup is delicious, and I can't help but feel as if I am meant to go get a meal right now. How did I ever go so long without you? Why did I ever turn you down? I love you, Whataburger. I really do.

You see, you never judge me. Even when I go in twice a week or twice a day to get food, you accept me. You don't remind me of the caloric or fat intake I am about to indulge in. No, you take me as I am and never say a harsh word toward me or my figure. You're so selfless too. I mean, your whole slogan is all about me, making sure my meal is made just how I like it. You even stay calm when customers steal your table tents. That's quite impressive.

You're always there for me too. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week and serving breakfast from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. That's my favorite meal, and you provide it for 12 straight hours. On those late night runs when I need something in my stomach after a night of nondescript activities around the night, your doors are always open and welcoming. And really, who can say no to a late night Whataburger run? No one, that's who.

Your portions are absolutely perfect too. A kid's meal, which only costs $3.67, is a perfect amount for me and I can always go back for more of your famous fries. Yet again, proving you will never judge me on how much I eat or the amount of money I spend. Others around me might think lowly of me for the insane amount of fries I can consume in one sitting, but I know that you understand.

I didn't know I loved you until I tried that honey butter chicken biscuit. It is, in fact, all that it's cracked up to be. Chicken, a biscuit and honey butter, what more could anyone need? It might only be available 11 p.m. to 11 a.m., but it is worth that late night or early morning trip.

You might completely ruin my diet, causing the weight gain I've had recently, but at least the food is worth it. I will exercise to burn the calories I eat, then go back for another fry on my way home from the gym. It completely throws me off my routine, but I can't stay away.

With everything aside, Whataburger, you are the best and I thank you for being so kind to me, even when I am overreacting and using your food as a form of comfort. You always stay the same and you'll always be open when I come around looking for another medium fry.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
