A Thank You Letter To My Family

No bond in the world is stronger.

A Thank You Letter To My Family
Katie Metcalf

I love my family. Sometimes, I take for granted everything they have done for me. I come from a great family that loves me as much as they possibly could. I have never truly understood how blessed I am until I started to meet new people in college. Some have worked very little, some have worked hard, some have very little support while others have the greatest amount of support. I'm very fortunate to be able to say that I have the biggest support system out there. They applaud me with every decision I make, and they push me to work as hard as I possibly can to become successful. I cannot help but to love and adore the wonderful people I call family.

To My Mom:

You're my best friend. I love and cherish the days we spend together, especially our shopping days! Yes, we fight most times because we are both hard-headed and entirely way too stubborn that we don't like to admit we were wrong. With that being said, that just means we are alike, and I am so happy and lucky that I get to be your daughter. You give me the greatest advice (even though I don't take it as much as I should). You know me more than any other person does. I'm going away to college soon but just know that you'll always be my go to woman. You have shown me and taught me how to be the best person I can be. One day, I hope I am half the mother you are to me. Thank you for everything you do, Momma! I love you.

To My Dad:

Not only were you my coach throughout sports, but you also coached me throughout life. Watching you coach and teach the game of basketball will always be my greatest privilege. You truly taught me how to be a leader. We fight like you're my little brother and sometimes you get on my nerves so bad that I just want to punch you, but I would not trade that for anything. I really look up to you and the many things you have accomplished and will continue to accomplish as a man.

To My Sisters:

Thank you for being my role models. Not only as bigger sisters, but as mommas, wives, teachers and coaches. Thank you for blessing me with the most precious nieces and nephews. I love you even more for making me an aunt! Honestly, it is one of the best titles I could ask for. Both of you inspire me daily, and as a little sister, I cannot wait to be just like you guys. Thank you for the boy advice, college advice and life advice. It truly means a lot to me to have you both as my best friends.

To my Brothers-in-Law:

My biggest thank-you is for making my sisters happy. Seeing them with men that appreciate them truly fills my heart. It gives me a great outlook on love and because of you men, I cannot wait to have a future with someone that loves me as much as you love them. Thank you for being great dads to my beautiful nieces and nephews. Thank for being the best big brothers. I always wanted an older brother, then you both came into our lives! Thank you for treating me like a little sister but also protecting me like one too. You men are truly the best.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. So, if you are aware that you’re a Starbucks addict as well, or maybe you need to check to see if you’re an addict, here are seven ways to tell.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
