A Love Letter To Cappuccinos

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains.

A Love Letter To Cappuccinos
Christiana Rivers

To my sweet delight,

Coffee has always pained me, and it was impossible for me to have a cup of coffee without having a stomachache for days after. Now that my health has improved, I have been properly introduced into your world.

I first got you on a rainy October day, and it was the start of something beautiful. Ever since then, I order you handcrafted from the Starbucks counter, and smile when I hear the barista call out your name, "Grande Cappuccino."

From the first sip to the last, you make me feel so warm and good.

I love your bitterness, it gives you character. I especially love how you keep me motivated during late nights in the library when all I want to do is fall into a deep slumber, but you drive my attention forward.

Not a lot of my friends like you; they would prefer a sweeter version of you with perhaps a flavored syrup and some sprinkles, but that's just not who you are. You are full-bodied in flavor, and you're for a stronger palate, which is just the way it should be. Those iced sweet coffee drinkers, they just don't get you.

You are independent, and you are important.

You inspire artists, doctors, lawyers around the world to look sophisticated and gain energy all through you.

Recently, you helped me get through my finals, and I am eternally grateful for your effect on my GPA. I couldn't have pulled through the endless study sessions if it weren't for you, and for that, I am extremely thankful. You motivated me to get up and face each day of work and studying without hesitation. All in all, you made this wonderful winter season even better, and I can't wait to get to know you even better next semester when I have my 8 AM Monday morning class.

Eternally yours,

A forever fan

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

The Unwritten Rules Of "Talking"

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
