This is to you Doll,

This is for the women that are from the south and go down there often. These women have a light in their eyes that strikes just about every guy. The women that walk into the room with a presence that is unmistakable to every man and woman. The women that are loud and proud at happy hours. These women say “No” in a way that shows both wit and grit. The women that dance with strangers at the bar and show up at church the next morning. These are my Texas women.

I admire them. I think of them often. Here’s to you ladies! Cheers at the next happy hour to my words that are to follow.

Southside

For you, my lady, have much more up your sleeve then what is shown in your general PDA. For whatever guy make get you, may he be ready to handle your boisterous side. The side that enjoys and thrives in the act of the wild thing. She isn’t afraid to make her way down south, instead she enjoys finding her way there often.

The Look

You don’t even see the color in her eyes. Instead you see the intensity that they hold. This woman is able to give you all you need with a sudden glance that turns into a stare. Ask her, “What you lookin’ at.” Her response is sure to be, “You.”

Presence Is A Present

This woman walks in and the crowd literally stops and stares. To some people she even may seem exotic. Her energy is able to permeate the audience and everyone wants to get a little bit closer. People may ask where she is from, what is she carrying among her being that catches everyone’s attention. Then they will realize that it is just her. The present in itself is her presence. She holds it all.

Blue Goose Margs

You know a girl from Texas because she uses the term "marg" as her name for the all time favorite drink, The Margarita. The girls can usually be found at the Blue Goose chain for margaritas at happy hour. Sangria swirl? Yes please, bartender.

Wit Accompanied With Grit

These southern women will let you know how it is. They will say “No,” in a way that will make you swoon even more as well as feel like you were just slapped. This is the only way they are able to keep the good ole’ boys at bay. Keep trying mister, I promise she is worth it.

Sweet Baby Jesus

Lord have mercy. Southern women will hit the town on Thursdays and Saturday nights. Watch out, buddy. Flasks will be found in bras, members of the group will be on the bar and before you know it they will be fresh faced (okay that’s an exaggeration), more like they will be faced with church in the morning. These ladies will proudly be praying to their higher power.

To all of you Texas women that I know personally, I love you. I love everything about you. It is over the top, all things lovely and you are everything I hope to be as a woman. I look forward to our next happy hour where we pass around assorted flavors of margaritas and flash pictures of our hot men.

Much Love,

K

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
