A Love Letter To Target

You never judge me for the choices I make in your store, Target.

My dearest Target,

What can I say other than that, well, I love you? When I moved to a new town where a Target was not easily in reach, my shopping trips have gone from an experience to a chore. Due to our long time relationship, I know driving the extra 30 minutes to you is well worth it — for my sanity, as I cannot possibly shop elsewhere.

You have been with me through all stages of my life. You have watched me grow from a small teeny-bopper shopping with my mom to an independent adult (who still shops at Target with her mom). From decorating my first college dorm room, to furnishing my first apartment, to creating the warmth of my first home, you were always there. Candles, pillows, blankets, bedding and lighting, you made my transition from childhood to adulthood easy and affordable. For that, I am forever grateful.

I am thankful each day for your clothing and accessories department, Target. Your fashion department has guided my style choices on more occasions than one. Tops, jeans, scarves, and dresses, you have something for every day at a price I can afford. Not only has my closet benefited, but also the closets of my closets friends and family, who have received endless gifts from your selection of clothing and bags, especially ugly Christmas sweaters with cats on them. My dad thanks you for that one.

You never judge me for the choices I make in your store, Target. From late night trips of frozen pizza and sweets to buying an odd assortment of items (duct tape, orange juice, glitter and a dog toy), you always checked me out with understanding and a smile. And let's not forget the importance of your other relationship, the only one I can possibly not get jealous of, Starbucks. Not only can I walk through each and every aisle with joy, I can even drink the happiness through my iced caramel macchiato.

Last but most certainly not least, your dollar or clearance section in the front of the store. The few rows of clearance items always bring me to a stop every time I walk in and something always leaves with me. You just always seem to know I need to add yet another cute stationery set to the thousands I already have or another perfect addition to my holiday décor.

From being able to pick up my prescriptions, getting all my grocery shopping completed, and buying that new welcome mat for my front door, you are the only one that makes this experience enjoyable. You may have competitors who have similar qualities to you, but nothing can beat the organization and cleanliness your store offers.

For you, Target, a letter of my love, affection and depleting bank account. I thank you.

Sincerely,

A forever Target shopper

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
