1 Corinthians 13:13
"For these things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."
This verse has gotten me through some of the darkest times. When I have felt completely lost and knocked down by life this verse always seems to pop up into my head as a little reminder to always have faith things will get better, to always have hope for the future, and even when I feel like I have nothing more to give, I can always love. Honestly, I think this is what the world needs, and has always needed, is more love. Sincere love, where you truly want what is best for each other.
Jesus is the only one who can give us perfect love, constantly. Jesus does not care what you have done in the past, no matter how bad you feel you may have messed up. It is forgiven. And news flash: everybody sins. And everybody sins differently. Sin is sin is sin.
With that being said, who are we to judge each other? Me and my boyfriend live together and we aren't married. That's a sin. And it's no different than Jon and Tim being in a loving relationship with each other. Or Sally who got an abortion at 18. Sin is sin. And either way God still loves all of us. The action of the sin has NO weight in the eyes of God, other than the fact that it is there. It is not the job of Christians to judge others and tell them that are messing up in God's eyes because Christians themselves do the same thing. Every single day.
It's also not realistic to think once you become a Christian, you just stop sinning. It's inevitable. We are going to fail God, but it's okay. He forgives, all you gotta do is ask. Temptation is everywhere. It has always been and it will be until the day Jesus comes back. Living with Jesus in your heart, is not about living without sin. It's about realizing that from time to time, we are all going to sin, but realizing that we now have forgiveness.
True Christianity is about love. About showing others that there is a hope out of this world. (Literally). To give people faith that things will always be better in the future. To love without judgement. Because at the end of the day, we are all trying to make the world better in the way we think will work best. Everyone is climbing a different mountain and fighting a different battle. Instead of pointing out each other's shortcomings, we need to come together and realize God loves us all the same and God has a different purpose for all us. And by showing others that Christians still love them, despite being different, is how we lead other people to Christ.
