It's important to figure out what defines love before we decide to go and search for it. There is no denying that we live in a hookup culture, where love is pretty foreign (which makes it pretty freaking confusing). Not all guys we meet are knights in shining armor, and not all women know what they want. And these things are okay, but in a culture like ours we must guard our hearts and define love by what it is, not what we think it is, or what we want it to be. So, what is love?
I believe that love is about honest communication, smiles, tears, and everything in between. Love is not about knowing everything about someone or about picture perfect moments. Love is about being able to learn new things about someone even if you've known them for years. It's about sharing secrets that are sacred and trusting them to still feel the same about you. Love is about still being compassionate when you're angry. It's about sacrifice, and hardships, and not feeling like you need to earn love. It's about smiling through the annoyance and loving someone for every good and bad things about them. Love isn't about pictures or videos that look perfect. I guess what I am trying to say is that love is everything that social media isn't portraying. The tears, the struggle, and the sacrifice are the pieces that make love so pure and unbreakable.
I can't define love in a sentence for you, but I do know that everyone is deserving of someone that truly and sincerely loves them for everything that they are; good and bad. Take the time to define what love is to you, and never stay if you don't feel loved. Ever. Because I promise you, from the bottom of my heart, you'll meet a guy/girl someday that makes you so thankful that you left and never looked back.
