Why I Love Having An Unplugged Fiancé

There are perks, believe it or not.

Most people in their late teens and early twenties are lovers of all things social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat are for sure at the top. I, myself, am one of those lovers. I find myself posting pictures of important events, posting statuses' about what my day was like, and sending pictures to people in my contacts that probably do not care that I had Taco Bell for lunch.

My fiancé, however, is the complete opposite.

Austin does not use Facebook for anything other than to see what his mom or I tagged him in, he uses Twitter to keep up on video game and Pokemon Go updates, and he uses Snapchat to send me pictures of what our fur baby, Malcolm, is up to while I'm gone. I'm not sure he even knows how to work Instagram, honestly. But, I absolutely love it. Here's why.

1. He doesn't have to check his Facebook while we're out to dinner or on a date. He actually looks at me and talks to me.

2. We don't have an unhealthy relationship that consists of jealousy and envy. He doesn't like other girls' pictures, he's not sliding into another girl's DM's, and he doesn't pay attention to what other people say.

3. People don't always know what we're doing or if we've had an argument.

4. Instead of him posting on my Facebook or adding a photo on Instagram about how much he loves me, he tells me before I leave for classes that day. He actually looks at me and tells me. I know, scary right?

5. I post the pictures and statuses because I know my family that I don't talk to much likes to keep up with us, and I always tag him in the post, so he doesn't have to make his own.

6. He doesn't have to show me off to the world using social media. He shows me off when we go to Wal Mart and he holds my hand, when we go to the movies and he puts his arm around me, and when we go out for dinner and he actually talks to me.

I love our relationship. There are no secrets, no worrying, and definitely no drama due to social media.

We are pretty solid.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
