Chances are, many of you have summer jobs that you work just to get you through the school year. And chances are, there are plenty of times that you absolutely hate that job. There are days that you really don't want to get out of bed, days where you wish you could just stay home. However, for every day that you hate that job, there are probably at least two where you love it.
Summer jobs can be pretty stressful. Some are seasonal, some are just part-time jobs you pick up for a while in between semesters, but either way, summer is a busy time. Whether you work in food service, retail, or any other area, there are bound to be times when you want nothing more than to walk out that door and not look back. I know there have been days where I've been there for any number of reasons, but there are so many good memories that balance out those negative ones.
The people that I work with are absolutely amazing. I love each and every one of them. What makes the bond that I have with my coworkers so special is that no one else has gone through quite the same things that we have all gone through as a staff, so we all relate in a way that no one can understand fully. These people make even the worst days better, and make working a crappy part-time job worthwhile. We all lean on each other, listen to each other, and help out one another in any way we possibly can, and I love that.
If it weren't for this job, I probably wouldn't be friends with a lot of these people that I've become closer to than anyone else. For that, I couldn't be more thankful.
Yes, there are days that I get fired up and hate my job. Yes, there are days that I vent for hours about all the things that happened within my eight hour shift. Yes, I complain about my job a lot. But no matter what, I love my job. It's given me great friends, great memories, and taught me a lot of great lessons. What else could I ask for?
I'm sure I'm not the only one who is driven crazy by my job. But I'm also sure that I'm not the only one who loves my job more than anything, and I know I'll be incredibly sad when I do move on. I'm very thankful for the memories and the friends that I've made, and despite everything, I love my job.
