He goes by many names: Diego Luna. Captain Cassian Andor. The light of my life. The soon-to-be-if-not-already light of your life, too.
Already a huge star in Mexico, Diego Luna captured everyone's attention with his role in the newest addition to the Star Wars franchise, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He plays Cassian Andor, a Captain and Intelligence Officer for the Rebel Alliance and a total cutie patootie.
Cassian Andor, caught in the action of being a cutie patootie.
But I'm not here to give spoilers, I'm here to spread love and joy and pictures of my new favorite actor. So here are the top ten reasons why Diego Luna is a literal ray of sunshine/ruining my life.
1. Look at his face.
Diego Luna's face. And what a face it is. A smile made of sunshine.
Diego Luna could smile at me any day.
2. He's a talented actor.
In an interview for "The Book of Life" with Zoe Saldana.
He has lent his skills to many films, including Rogue One, The Book of Life, Y tu mamá también, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Elysium, The Terminal, and the Amazon original movie Casanova.
3. And he can sing, too!
In "The Book of Life," Diego Luna voices Manolo Sánchez, a bullfighter who wants to be a musician.
If I find out Diego Luna can dance, I'm going to be furious. This man is not allowed to be a triple threat.
4. ...Right. He can dance.
Okay, when do we get to see Diego Luna on Broadway?
I forgot he was literally the male lead in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. So, uh. Diego Luna, everyone. Triple threat.
5. He looks like he's in an early-2000s boy band in half his pictures.
You probably thought I was kidding.
"Our next song is called 'Girl, You're Beautiful' or something. I'm going to compliment your eyes now and tell you that you're more beautiful than you think you are."
6. He wants to touch Jabba the Hutt.
Let Diego Luna Touch Jabba the Hutt 2k17
"Luna has professed his intense desire to touch the fleshy mass that is Jabba the Hutt a frankly alarming number of times during the press circuit for Rogue One. " - Gizmodo
7. He's a force for change.
Diego Luna chose to keep his Mexican accent for his role in Star Wars. This might not seem like a big deal, but being able to see a Mexican actor who sounds Mexican in such a big (and non-racially stereotyped) role in such a big movie has touched so many people, like this woman and her father.
8. Everything about him in this segment on "Chelsea."
This just in: Diego Luna eats a self-reported 5-6 tortillas a day.
In which Diego Luna shows Chelsea Handler around Mexico City and they drink mescal.
9. He was in a Katy Perry music video.
My soul hurts AKA the cutie patootie strikes again
And he looks like he should be the drummer of that boy band from #5???
10. The thing that happens 3 minutes and 30 seconds into this Ellen interview.
He's so excited. And he just can't fight it. He's about to lose control and he thinks he likes it.
He said it best himself: "Oh wow, holy crap, that's fantastic." Same, Diego Luna. Same.
And there you go. The wonderful, multi-talented Diego Luna: Rebel Captain, triple threat, proud Mexican, incredible interviewee, life-ruiner.
I can't wait to see what he does next.
