Why I Love Charleston Southern

You just don't get this anywhere else!

Why I Love Charleston Southern
Wikipedia

While I have only been at Charleston Southern for about two months, I already love it. This school is truly something special and you don't get what CSU has to offer anywhere else. Here's why I love our school (in no particular order):

1. Service Opportunities

There are so many opportunities to get involved! I am currently a part of the Odyssey Online and Alpha Delta Pi here at CSU and I love being involved! I think that without getting plugged in on campus (whether it's at CSU or anywhere else), you can find yourself trying to find something to do or getting bored and joining campus groups has been one of the best things I've ever done! You meet incredible people who you normally wouldn't meet if it weren't for the groups. Some of these people might turn out to be some of your best friends. Also, it's so fun serving the community!

2. Elevate

Elevate is one of the most amazing things about this school. Every Thursday night, our campus holds this incredibly fun and life-changing worship service called Elevate. We sing, we jump, we dance, and we learn more about and worship God. The talent that is showcased on the stage of Lightsey Chapel is amazing and being able to worship at your school with some of your closest friends is something that words can't even describe.

3. The Professors

The professors here at CSU are also really great. They don't see you as just another number; they actually want to see you succeed in class! Not only do they want you to succeed in class, they want to see you succeed outside of the classroom and in the future with careers as well as with your faith. They genuinely want to help you and they are always praying for you. I always appreciate it when we start and end class with prayer and I love how our professors really care for us.

4. The Students

I can't explain enough how important it is to find "your people" and here at CSU, you shouldn't have any trouble with that. Especially because most, if not all, of the students have similar values and ideals because of our shared faith. Everyone is so nice and there are always people there for you when you need them.

5. Sunday Morning Worship

Summit Church here on campus means that you just have to get up, get ready, and walk 5 minutes. It is always great to hear from our Campus Pastor, Jon Davis, and to worship with some of your closest friends on campus!

6. Smaller Campus

Have a class at 8 AM and don't want to wake up too early? You know that you can walk pretty much anywhere on campus in less than 10 minutes, if not in less than 5 minutes.

7. Super Beautiful Campus

The campus here at CSU is extremely beautiful and peaceful. Walking from class to class, you pass by the reflection pond and you can't help but enjoy the views. It's also really nice to be able to sit on the benches outside by the pond and study or do school work.

8. Activities

There are so many things to do on campus! There is always something going on and you know that one of your friends will definitely be willing to go with you!

9. Sports

We have Division I Athletics! That means that we sometimes play bigger, more well-known schools. Go Bucs!

10. Chick-fil-a and Java City on Campus

As part of your meal plan (which is included in your tuition), you can get $85 or $135 per semester to spend in Chick-fil-a or Java City, depending on which meal plan you choose! I don't know about you but I love that!

11. Fitness Classes and Facilities

The gym on campus is fully-equipped and you can also take some really fun fitness classes as well, if that's something you're interested in!

12. Dorm Size

The dorms at CSU, specifically the women's dorms, are really big! There is plenty of room for everything!

13. Location

The location of our campus is something that's really great as well! It's in North Charleston near Northwoods Mall and there are tons of neat places nearby. We are also less than 30 minutes from Downtown Charleston and less than 20 minutes away from Summerville!

14. Nationally Recognized

Our school is nationally recognized! We have been named a College of Distinction, one of America's 100 Best College Buys, one of U.S. News and World Report Best Online Programs, one of the Military Friendly Schools, one of America's Best Christian Colleges and VA Yellow Ribbon Program. How cool is that!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
