In the beginning break ups suck. They leave you with so many thoughts and what ifs. You'll question why things didn't work, and if there was something you could have done differently. Thankfully in the end, break ups turn into an amazing lesson.
When you are with someone you start to mold to their wants, needs, and likes. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when you do that you start to lose touch with yourself. After a break up you lose the attachments you had with that person and really start to become yourself again. It's a great venture. You smile like you did before they entered your life, you make silly jokes, and become happy with just yourself. You see all of your great qualities because you aren't looking for someone else's.
When you begin to see all the great qualities you hold, you start to love yourself again. All of your quirks and flaws don't feel like they are weighing you down anymore. You are able to look and the mirror and be proud of the person you became, you are able to love that person.
After a break up you are free. You have no obligations to make plans with one person on a daily basis, nor do you have to keep in touch with them all day. You are able to go out with your friends more, spend time with your family, and adventure to wherever your budget will let you. You find a new sense of independence after a break up and it will empower you more than you will ever realize.
Somewhere down the road you might be ready to give the whole "loving someone else" thing another chance. The great thing about this moment after a break up is that you can now find someone better. There were reasons the last one didn't work out, so don't let the same flame burn you twice. Find someone who loves your quirks, laugh, and your flaws. Or don't. Trust me, you can be unbelievably happy just living life for yourself.
I love break ups. They make you into a different version of yourself or let you return to who you were before. Break ups are a happiness returning, freedom finding time of change that shouldn't be looked down on. It's time to start making break ups a good thing.
