There are so many pros to reading. If you're like me, reading is probably your best pastime. There is so much to be learned from books, whether it's life skills or just learning about the world in general. Books are the ultimate escape from life, people and responsibility and sometimes they are just better than dealing with people. Loving books, however, does come with its fair share of struggles.
1. All your gift cards are to Barnes & Noble
In the past two years, I've probably accumulated $60 worth in B&N gift cards. Don't get me wrong, I love getting B&N gift cards but there's just *something* about getting them over and over again.
2. Constantly getting asked "when do you get the time to read"
The best answer for this is that I make time. All the time I spend scrolling on my phone is easily swapped with time I spend reading my book.
3. Dedicating the last three months of the year to meeting your Goodreads goal
Achieving your Goodreads goal feels like winning the lottery and failing is the equivalent of falling down a flight of stairs.
4. Your library card is your best friend
Why buy books when you can literally borrow them for free? Plus, libraries are awesome and can get you borrow e-books and e-audiobooks for free.
5. Your TBR pile is endless
You have so many things you want to read but yet you never have anything to read??
6. You're used to waiting over a year for a book to come out
It's especially painful when the previous book ends on a cliffhanger.
7. Cringing when you see the movie trailer for your favorite books
Movies never do the book justice. Why can't we just have TV series instead?
8. The high you get giving and getting recommendations
Book recommendations are the best thing ever because that means there's more to read. Giving recommendations and pulling up all of your shelves on Goodreads makes you feel like you're Santa. Either way, people still think your excitement is weird.
9. The all too well feeling of when the book you were looking forward to sucks
Waiting over a year and barely getting through the first 100 pages is one of the worst reading experiences.
10. Constantly getting interrupted when you're reading
Reading means I probably need a break from reality, please come back later.
11. Having someone spoil the book your reading
This is the absolute worst. Don't be that person.
12. Trying to explain your favorite book to someone without giving it away
The biggest struggle because you get so excited and just want to tell everyone everything. The book is just really good, okay? That's all I'm going to tell you.
